Privacy Policy for "Whimzy"

Good Folk Digital ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, Whimzy (the "App"). Please read this policy carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.
1. Information We Collect
a. Personal Information
Whimzy does not require you to create an account to play, but we may collect limited personal information if you choose to interact with certain features:
- Login Credentials (Optional): If you create an account, we use Firebase Authentication to securely manage your login credentials. Your password is encrypted and obfuscated.
- Email Address (Optional): If you sign up, we may use your email to provide support, send updates about your account, or respond to inquiries.
b. Usage Data
We collect information about your interactions with the App, including:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and other unique identifiers.
- Usage Patterns: Firebase Analytics tracks which features you use, how you interact with decks, and gameplay activity to help us improve the experience.
- Crash Data: Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports and diagnostic data so we can identify and fix issues.
c. In-App Purchases
When you make a purchase (such as unlocking a Deck or Premium), payment processing is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not have access to or store your payment details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect in the following ways:
- To Improve Gameplay: Analytics helps us understand how players use the App so we can refine the experience.
- To Communicate With You: If you provide contact details, we may send you support responses or updates about your purchases.
- To Maintain Stability: Crash and error reports help us keep Whimzy stable and reliable.
3. Third-Party Services
Whimzy uses the following third-party services to provide and improve our app:
- Firebase Authentication (Google): Manages user authentication and login.
- Firebase Analytics (Google): Tracks app usage and user behavior.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google): Collects crash reports and diagnostic data.
- Google AdMob: Serves advertisements (see Section 4 for details).
- Apple App Store / Google Play Billing: Processes in-app purchases.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share limited information in the following cases:
- Service Providers: Trusted third parties like Firebase and Google AdMob provide authentication, analytics, crash reporting, and advertising services.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to comply with applicable laws or lawful government requests.
5. Advertisements
Whimzy displays advertisements through Google AdMob for users who have not purchased Premium. AdMob may collect and use the following data to serve personalized ads:
- Advertising ID: IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) on iOS or AAID (Google Advertising ID) on Android
- Device Information: IP address, device type, operating system version
- Usage Data: Interactions with ads and app features
- Location Data: Approximate location (if permitted by device settings)
How to Opt Out of Personalized Advertising:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Turn on "Opt out of Ads Personalization"
Opting out will not reduce the number of ads you see, but they will be less relevant to your interests.

6. In-App Purchases and Rewards
- One-Time Purchases: All purchases in Whimzy are one-time unlocks. We do not use subscriptions or recurring billing.
- Free Rewards: You may earn free custom cards and rewards by playing mini-games or visiting the App regularly.
7. Data Security
We prioritize the security of your data. We use encryption and Firebase's built-in security measures to help protect your information against unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
8. Data Retention
We retain different types of data for varying periods:
- Analytics and Usage Data: Retained for up to 2 months to help us improve the app.
- Crash Reports: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes.
- Account Information: Retained until you request deletion of your account.

9. Children's Privacy
Whimzy is rated for users aged 17 and older and is not intended for children under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it immediately.

10. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
